TED - Are athletes really getting faster, better, stronger?
Examples of Sport-technology adaptation
Have you ever fallen in love with sports? Well, I have a crush on volleyball recently, in my case. Even if you've never been love with sports, you might play sports before. You can easily see articles that some athletes make new world record during web-surfing. But do you really think that world record is come from that athlete's pure effort? It's not, actually. Especially technology helped a lot. It makes athletes more powerful, and it helps them to make new world record.
Hawk-Eye is very famous for marvel hero character, however, Hawk-Eye system is well known for sports technology. This technology is used a lot in cricket, tennis, and volleyball. As same as it's name, this technology needs many eyes. Cameras. It makes 3D motion of the ball with those high quality cameras. For instance, tennis has 10 cameras in the court. It has reduced the criticism of the players, and helps to take an error-free decision. But Hawk-eye Systems engineer said that it's not always accurate. It's very big problem but it's still more accurate then human's eyes. According to Fares Saudi, Hawk-Eye senior systems engineer, it has improved its' accuracy further with every passing year.
As you guys know, sports is really common thing in nowadays. And video technology affected to this phenomenon a lot. According to this statistics, sports market's growth increased every four year. According to 'this' statistics, the growth of the streaming video industry increased. Increasing of streaming video industry means that there is more chance to experience sports, and it also makes e-sports industry much larger, too. Video technology has increased both sports and e-sports industry pretty well.
Sports has developed a lot during the decades, and there is technology behind that development. For instance, there are Hawk-Eye systems, which makes judge's judgement more accurate, and video technology, which has been making sports industry larger. This kind of technology will develop every seconds, and I believe that world record will change soon with the technology development, affected by these sports industry.
Video technology.
